About Me

Hi, I’m James. An AuDHD’er living in the Clayton Heights area of Surrey, BC, with a lifelong love for making things. I grew up in a bakery, which gave me an appreciation for food made by hand, and I’ve always had a curiosity for technology and building. By day, I work a 9 to 5 job to pay the bills. By night and weekends, I dive into my hobbies: baking, 3D printing, and home automation.

Like many neurodivergent people, I know hobbies and hyper focuses can get expensive fast. Forge and Flour is my way to keep doing what I love without it draining my wallet. My pricing is simple: cover the cost of materials, plus just a couple of dollars for growth. This keeps things sustainable and fun, not a full-time job.

About the Kitchen

The kitchen is where Forge and Flour started. Baking is in my roots, and today I work with sourdough breads (using a 5-year-old starter named Oliver), buns, cookies, and other small-batch treats.

This isn’t a commercial bakery, it’s a passion project. I focus on simple, rustic, flavourful baking that’s made to be shared. Every loaf and every batch carries the patience of sourdough and the joy of experimenting with new recipes.

About the 3D Printing

3D printing is where creativity and problem-solving meet. I keep a catalog of ready-to-print objects, but the fun comes when something doesn’t exist yet. If it’s possible to design it, let’s see if we can make it.

Whether it’s replacing a part that broke, designing a tool you wish existed, or creating something purely fun, I treat every project like a puzzle worth solving. From practical fixes to unique custom builds, 3D printing is my way of making ideas real.

About your Home Automation

“The Lab” is my playground for technology and problem-solving. I explore everything from enterprise-style homelabs to everyday tech that makes life easier.

Here’s what I focus on:

File Servers & Personal Clouds: Keep control of your data, on your terms.
Privacy (on and off the internet): Tools and setups that protect your digital life.
Computer Diagnostics & Limited Repair: PC and Apple troubleshooting, hardware recommendations, installs, and configurations. (I don’t stock parts, solder — yet — or replace screens, but I’ll point you in the right direction and get you set up.)
Wi-Fi & Networking Help: It’s often not your internet provider that sucks, it’s a mix of your hardware, your home’s construction, and your network layout. I can help untangle it so your setup actually works the way it should.
Home Automation: Lights, HVAC, cameras, and more, bringing the smart home under your control, not stuck behind a paywall.

For me, tech isn’t just gadgets. It’s about giving people tools they understand, own, and enjoy.
